ABOUT US

In Latin, Amāre means "to love". For us, this represents the love of films, which is why we chose that name for our festival.
As a small independent film festival, we will present a diverse selection of films that not only entertains, but also allows our audiences the opportunity to engage and experience stories outside of the commercial scene. Our goal is to celebrate talented filmmakers from Windsor and beyond!

"Cinema is a mirror by which we often see ourselves." - Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Festival Location

Old Sandwich town is a culturally diverse neighbourhood along the Detroit river, making it an ideal backdrop to hold our film festival. The ambiance of Mackenzie Hall Cultural Centre, offers a warm, inviting space where attendees can really feel its historic charm. To hold a modern event screening at such a notable venue creates a feeling of connection by blending the ‘old and new’, giving us a chance to appreciate the past, while being optimistic about its future.
